Is the Kampenwand suitable for a first tandem flight?
Yes. The launch meadow is an easy one-minute walk from the top station, and your pilot handles everything else – you take a few steps and enjoy the view.

The Lake Chiemsee panorama – one of Germany's best-known flying areas.
The flying mountain with the panoramic view of Lake Chiemsee: for paraglider pilots, the Kampenwand is one of Germany's oldest and best-known flying areas. The summit structure with its rock spires even offers some easy scrambling on the final metres.
For tandem flying the Kampenwand doesn't work quite as often as, say, the Hochries – really good thermals are rarer here. But when a good tandem flight comes together, it is usually world class.
The view of Lake Chiemsee from the summit is overwhelming. The paragliding launch lies below summit level next to the Kampenwandbahn top station – the beautiful launch meadow is just one minute from the lift exit. The second launch further below the cable car is about a 10-minute walk.
The branching network of trails and the alpine pastures around the Kampenwand invite you to a full day out in hiking boots. The ridge traverse over the extremely narrow summit is for professionals or as a guided climbing tour – if you are completely sure-footed and fit, crossing the Kampenwand is a top-class adventure.
Around the Kampenwand there are wonderfully rustic alpine huts where you can enjoy a leisurely Bavarian Brotzeit. Perhaps the tandem flight afterwards is the crowning end of a beautiful day? If your flight from this height grants you a view of Lake Chiemsee, you've caught a truly good flying day at the Kampenwand with excellent thermals.
By the way: in winter the Kampenwand is a ski area – paraglider pilots are a rare sight in the cold season. If you'd like to try it in winter anyway, simply book a tandem flight at the Kampenwand and we'll try a snow launch with you.

No – we pick the mountain on the morning based on wind and thermals. If the Kampenwand fits, we fly there; otherwise we switch to one of our five other areas.
You pick the flight and the day – we pick the mountain on the morning, by the weather. If the weather says no, we move you to a better day, free.
